Navitas- University of Manitoba 

 

曼尼托巴大學位於加拿大曼尼托巴省省會溫尼伯市，是曼尼托巴省最大的大學，也是省內最全面的科研性大學教育機構。它成立於1877年，是加拿大西部的第一所大學。

曼尼托巴大學是於1877年在溫尼伯的Broadway街建立的一所非宗教大學，授予在羅馬天主教會的聖玻尼菲斯學院、聖公宗的聖約翰學院和長老教會的曼尼托巴學院這三所教會學校畢業的學生學位。曼尼托巴大學在1880年授予了第一個學位。

1901年曼尼托巴省議會修改了大學法案，大學被允許開設自己的課程。1905年，溫尼伯市區的一座建築成為了第一所教學機構，全體人員是6名科學家教授。管理模式仿照了1906年的多倫多省級大學法案，成立兩院制度：由系組成的參議院負責學術政策，由平民組成的管理委員會負責財務政策和其它事務。校長由管理委員會指定，負責協調兩方並執行機構的領導。

在20世紀早期，專業教育從傳統的神學、法學和醫學開始擴展。基於在德國影響下的美國模式，畢業後學生進行學科研究並完成論文的模式開始實行。加拿大西部的第一所建築學院於1919年在曼尼托巴大學創建。
